Important Notes About Open Enrollment:

  • Regardless of what you have heard, the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is still the law.
    • That means that once a year, during Open Enrollment, you get a chance to enroll or re-enroll in affordable health insurance.
  • The enrollment period is only 6 weeks this year!  Nov. 1 – Dec. 15  Don’t wait for the last minute!  You must sign up by December 15. If you want 2018 coverage, there is just the one deadline. Beat the rush and sign up early.
  • Local help is available! 
    • There are a lot of choices, different insurers, bronze, silver, gold, platinum.
    • You don’t have to go it alone.
    • There are trained assisters are ready to help you for free!
  • Most people get financial help.
    • Over 80% of people who enrolled in a health plan through healthcare.gov last year got financial help to pay for it.
    • You may qualify too! Learn more about enrolling now before it’s too late!
  • There is a minimum penalty of $695 for not having health insurance.
  • More than 30 million Americans gained health insurance through the ACA​

Why Get Health Insurance?

  • You deserve to be healthy. Nothing is more important than your health.
  • Your family needs you! People without health insurance avoid going to the doctor.
  • Being healthy starts with preventive care, which is free with your health insurance.
    • Blood pressure, cancer screenings, contraceptives, flu shots are all free with your insurance.
    • Health insurance will also pay for most of the bills if you are pregnant and have a baby. Before the ACA, women often had to pay extra for insurance with maternity coverage.
